Fr Seraphim Rose
When antichrist does make his incarnate appearance, in addition to presenting all that is evil as good, but more probably to claim and gather his own. The gathering, as a counterfeit rapture, will harvest and reward those long and committed as servants of Satan, those who follow his directions and commands to the destruction of humanity, and especially Christian humanity, for satanic promise of power and wealth, those who in order to ‘just get along’ are knowingly complicit/cooperative/surrendered with what they recognize as evil, and those who failed to resist, failed to stand for the right and the true.
And what does the choice consist in? Can we really think it will resemble a USA political debate: here is the good with the promise of eternal heaven and here is the evil with temporal wealth, power, sex, what do you like? I will pick the good and go to heaven. I submit that it is a personal choice that happens today, now. It is much more like: “is this really all that bad?” or “I must do this to keep my position” or “I must recommend this to the flock in order to maintain my position as Bishop” or “I mean it is needed in order to travel’ or “isn’t there scripture where the apostles did just this?” Each of these failed choices makes the next one more likely to fail as well. One more step on the downward spiraling staircase.
Well, what is worship? I am not going to bow down to any silly idol statue set up in the town square. The anti-Christ worship is being done already, now, currently. It is a corruption, a deception, an inverted distortion of the scriptural verse: “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” In the modern vernacular: ‘follow my directions’, ‘go with the flow’, ‘it’s what you are supposed to do’.
Don’t kid yourself; we face anti-Christ every day.
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” ….. Ephesians 6,12 KJV
There is a hymn that captures the mood of this daily battle. I trust that Seraphim Rose, remembering his own odyssey before Orthodoxy, forgives the intrusion of Anglo-Catholic memories.
1 Once to every man and nation
Comes the moment to decide,
In the strife of truth with falsehood,
For the good or evil side;
Some great cause, God’s new Messiah,
Offering each the bloom or blight,
And the choice goes by forever
Twixt that darkness and that light.
2 Then to side with truth is noble,
When we share her wretched crust,
Ere her cause bring fame and profit,
And ’tis prosperous to be just;
Then it is the brave man chooses
While the coward stands aside,
Till the multitude make virtue
Of the faith they had denied.
3 By the light of burning martyrs,
Christ, Thy bleeding feet we track,
Toiling up new Calvaries ever
With the cross that turns not back;
New occasions teach new duties,
Time makes ancient good uncouth;
They must upward still and onward,
Who would keep abreast of truth.
4 Though the cause of evil prosper,
Yet ’tis truth alone is strong;
Though her portion be the scaffold,
And upon the throne be wrong:
Yet that scaffold sways the future,
And, behind the dim unknown,
Standeth God within the shadow
Keeping watch above His own.

The new “Christianity” of the Antichrist
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z54o2bJXNwQ
“The faithful remnant of Christians in the last days, as our Lord has told us, will be very small [and feeble]; the vast majority of those who call themselves Christians will welcome Antichrist as the Messiah … those who are not true Orthodox Christians belong to the “new Christianity,” the “Christianity” of Antichrist.
The Pope of Rome and practically everyone else today speaks of “transforming the world” by Christianity: priests and nuns take part in demonstrations for “racial equality” and similar causes. These have nothing to do with Christianity: they do nothing but distract men from their true goal, which is the Kingdom of Heaven.
The coming age of “peace,” “unity,” and “brotherhood,” if it comes, will be the reign of Antichrist: it will be Christian in name, but Satanic in spirit.Everyone today seeks happiness on earth, and they think this is “Christianity”; true Orthodox Christians know that the age of persecutions, which began again under the Bolsheviks, is still with us, and that only by much sorrow and tribulation are we made fit to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.”
(Fr. Seraphim elsewhere identifies this “new Christianity” as one “of social action, ecumenism, empty ideas and false love” and laments that: “noon is preaching Holy Orthodoxy as the one true faith necessary to salvation, “while further commenting that contemporary spokesmen for Orthodoxy present as their goal the attainment of a time of ecumenical harmony, tolerance, and mutual respect – not a crusade for the conversion of souls.”) Fr Seraphim states in his “Orthodox Survival Course”: “Essentially, it is one thing — (they) search for a new Christianity which is better than Orthodoxy, better than the Christianity of the Holy Fathers, which Christ gave to us…
In the end the world will be “christian”, because it’s Antichrist who gives them a new religion, which is not something foreign to Christianity. It will not be some kind of paganism. It will be something which everyone will accept as Christianity, but will be anti- christian. A substitute for Christianity which denies the very essence of Christianity.
And this is why the main history of the rebellion against Christ – is no less than the apostasy which St. Paul talks about. It is not by means of persecution as it was in the beginning, but by means of taking Christianity and changing it so that it will no longer be Christian. And this is what we can call the “unfolding of the Mystery of Iniquity” in preparation for Antichrist.”
