I was having an office visit with my urologist, new to my case, and he asked what I did. I said that I am still working actively. His remark was that I was too old for that; I should be ah, what is the expression, puttering around the house. Something rose up in me and said internally, that will never do. Putter around the house, wait, wait to die, hope that it is reasonably painless and that I have things in reasonable order when I go. Is that really what the elder life is about? And my answer was no there is much more to do yet.
